Welcome to The Birmingham Sports & Social Club Homepage

In 1961 a handful of Postmen Higher Grade, after meeting and much discussion amongst themselves, decided to form a social club.

To start with agents were recruited to collect the contribution of 5p for two numbers on the tote and 50% of the contributions were paid out in prize money. The remaining 50% was paid into a bank account, which was set up on behalf of the 'tote'. This money was used to subsidise various outings. Over the many years that the club has been in existence we have visited most seaside resorts using both modes of transport, coach and train, and in recent years have included theme parks.

In 1991 the now named club was formed. The idea being to run sports and social events for all Royal Mail & Post Office Staff including the 100 tote. The club has run trips to places outside of the UK, including visits to Euro Disney, Italy and other parts of Europe. We've even visited Canada and New York in recent years. We also regularly travel to other parts of the UK, for example London Theatre weekends, York and the Lake District.

In 2007, this website was launched to bring the club up to date with the latest methods of communication. It provides a 'one stop' source of up to date information relating to the tote drawer winners, trips and club news. As well as providing a valuable service to current members, it also promotes the club to those considering joining, as well as the means to do so via membership forms.

All details of our trips are displayed on the notice boards in the offices throughout the B1-B98 area. They can also be found on the trips page of this website. We also archive two years of previous destinations on the trips page to show just how much our club has done in the past.
